Our happiness lies in the way we are wired with thinking

    • Bisma Elyeen

Sweet. My teacher in uni said it’s because of the shaytaan I felt like that. She was referring to symptoms of depression and anxiety! She refuses treatment for her son for OCD as well. Muslims need to treat themselves first, from neurotic methods of thinking about islam. Religious people will be the last people on the planet I’d go to talk about my mental health problems.

      • Ikhlas Al-Amatullah

Some of us go to Islamic scholars to find a cure for our depression. And scholars, too, position themselves as though they are experts in treating mental illness by somehow relating this back to the strength of our Imaan. We all need to educate ourselves even in the case of where and who to seek help from, alongside the obvious need of increasing self awareness.

        • Bisma Elyeen

If scholars act like this, I can’t fathom what normal muslims think then. It’s an epidemic.
